LIGHT-FILLED SPACES

The owner of Barroso Homes, who has been a builder for the past 12 years, has been putting her own unique stamp on luxury contemporary homes for the past eight years. For this Hartfield Avenue home, she made two compromises. To respect the more traditional architecture of the surrounding neighbourhood, she would tone down her usual approach, which is highly and boldly modern.

HAPPY TO BE HOME

Homeowner Marie-Josée Lepine smiles every time she enters her Candiac home and sees the foyer’s bold floral black-and-white tiling. “I can’t help it,” she says, laughing. “Their design is so playful that they immediately put me in a more joyful and relaxed ‘glad-to-be-home-again’ mood.”

In a small way, David and his brother, Jacob Bercovici, an American businessman, are doing their own wooing of the industry and have helped Vancouver become more attractive to visiting productions.
